My dryer is a Speed Queen ADE3LRGS171TW01, it's electric. The drum turns, the heating element heats, the exhaust flows. The lint screen, duct, and exit are all clean and functioning as they should.
When you start the dryer (with the door open), you can see the glow from the element and feel the heat. Due to that I've ruled out the element and the thermal fuses. I have tested (on an electric skillet) the cycle thermostat which opens up around 155 deg F. then closes within a minute of removing it from the skillet and sitting it on a stove top. I've also tested the High Temp thermostat the same way and it opens somewhere around 250 deg. F.
As I mentioned, when you start it up everything seems fine, shut the door and walk away and when you go back 5 to 10 minutes later the dryer is cool again...
Any ideas?

I did some testing with a temperature probe I have for my meter. The dryer will ramp up to around 180 deg F., stay there for a couple (2 to 3) minutes then the heating element turns off, the temp ramps down to room temp and stays there for 3 to 4 minutes, then the cycle repeats. This is with the dryer empty, set to 'more dry', and just exhausted to the room (it's electric). I would think that whatever sensor tells it to turn on again should do so before it gets to room temp. I never considered myself to be an idiot, but I sure am starting to feel like one...
