Wash is not great. Fills with water and when the motor is supposed to start the wash cycle it 'stops'. ... waits a few seconds (maybe 10? Didn't time it) and tries to start again and immediately stops. Eventually starts and completes the cycle normally.
Surprisingly very little amount of stuff in the sump, etc. Getting the black impellar (?) located immediately under the lower spray arm off (yes I removed the screw) was a challenge. Apparently it became fused to the motor shaft. Eventually it broke during removal. OK one more thing to replace.
Eventually got down to the chopper blade area. Got it and silver 'extension ring' (for the upper black impellar) off the shaft. Now after opening the sump area I am left with the lower light grey impellar in the sump area. It also seems fused to the motor shaft. I have not tried any heroic efforts to remove it yet. Any suggestions on breaking it free? I know it should just slide up and off but all the items above it were fused... so why wouldn't this one be stuck as well ;-)
I want to stop here and get initial impressions/suggestions before putting the 'jaws of life' to work on this piece. I know I need to install the drain and wash impellar kit at this stage but don't know if the symptoms of the original issue point to a motor issue or not.
Any thoughts, questions, suggestions, encouragement, prayer would be appreciated! Thanks!

Update: the impellars all spin freely... just all the attached pieces are stuck to the shaft. Wanted to be clear :-)

If the Motor is quiet and free, I wouldnt mess with it. Sometimes these whirlpools "sense" the water before they begin washing, temp and pump current draw are checked and analyzed...... The impellers if stuck are a PITA....

Awesome. Thanks so much for the reply. Ok 'jaws of life' time I guess. So after I replace all that stuff (and The fine mesh filter mechanism as it seems to have multiple places where the screen is loose... probably not so good for the wash water quality), what do you think is the potential issue with the sudden problem with starting and continuing to run? Circuit board?

Could be the board, I dont recall exactly your issue on one of these, but the board does control the functions, when does it take longer then it used to (right when it first fills?) Does it fill normally with water? Have you ohmed out the heater?

Hey there. So to be more clear than what I originally wrote: It fills normally. Then when it (should) start, it tries for a split second then stops/pauses for a few seconds... then tries again.... then stops.... it can do that 'try to start'/stop on and off many many times for 4-5 minutes before it decides to go ahead and start... and complete the normal cycle.

I have not checked the heater resistance as of yet. Do I need to remove it to get a proper reading? Thanks in advance for any and all help here !!

You can check heater resistance from console, Does the "SENSING" light stay on while it starts/ stops?

Sorry, was thinking of another unit.....

Do you hear a relay click each time it starts and stops?

Do you hear some crackling when it is starting or stopping?
