My dishwasher completed its cycle and when I went to open it, the handle stuck in the up position but won't open the door. How do I get it unstuck so that I can replace it if that's what's needed? The dishwasher is more than 10 years old but I had the handle replaced a few years ago. I don't want to pay $100 again to have it repaired when I'm sure I can do it myself.

The Latch mech/Handle will need to be replaced again, and more than likely the clips on the console have broke that help hold the latch in place that put more stress on the mech, both would likely need to be replaced.
I have only run across one that would not open easily, had to pry it open.
One thing that can be done is to remove the handle pieces and just pull the door open, it does open much easier with just the latch and the void left by having removed the lever (handle)..... done that a few times for people also.

How do I remove the handle pieces? Do I just pry them out?

Sorry, I should expand upon that, you will have to open the door up, remove all the torx screws from around the door perimiter (t20 IIRC) and then lift the inner door panel slightly and your latch should be there at the top....
