Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 2/7/2014(UTC) Posts: 1		Hi all- Did something stupid the other day when cleaning the oven. I pulled the element out and shorted the terminals on the side of the oven. Big sparks that luckily didn't electrocute me...but had the wife yelling at me afterward :) Anyway, now the bake AND broil elements don't work. I've checked the bake element for continuity and it's reading ~24 ohms. Spliced on new disconnects to the element since they looked a bit charred (although, after buying them I realized they weren't high heat disconnects...but figured that can't be the issue right now??). Put the probe on the disconnects and turned the oven on...it's reading only ~25V. Am I to assume it's the control board that probably fried then? Any help would be appreciated! -b

Check the power to the unit first. Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. Check the voltage at the plug L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip. Do this with the heater off and on. [COLOR="Red"]Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!![/COLOR] I am assuming that the unit stays in preheat and never comes ready. Also that the wiring is OK. If yes to all the above then the control board is at the top of the list. Unfortunately it looks like the control board is obsolete but you will have to call the parts representatives to confirm this. File Attachment(s): RF315.pdf (275kb) downloaded 4 time(s).
