5 year old unit stopped spinning except occasionally, all other functions OK. Home warranty repairman said new trans. needed, too costly to repair. Sound right with everything else working or should I try lid switch?

Well, this washer doesn't even have a transmission. Does it fill and agitate ok? Just a problem with spin? Open front panel and check the circuit board on top of the motor. On right side there should be a blinking LED indicator. If there are no errors recorded, it will just flash on/off continuously. If there is an error, it will flash and then pause, then repeat, for example, if an error 4, it will flash 4 times and then off, then repeat. Problem could also be that washer is not fully draining. Does it drain completely before starting to spin? Could also be gunk buildup in the hose and air dome on lower left side of tub. Disconnect that hose (tub empty), and clean out any gunk in hose and air dome. Air dome is not removable so you need to use a piece of wire to get in there and also flush with hot water. Be careful, don't want to break the hose nipple off. Here is your tech sheet. It tells you how to place washer in service mode to check for other error codes at user console control board.

Four flashes means the mode shifter coil is bad. This would cause the basket to move back and forth along with the agitator in wash mode. It should not cause the washer to not spin as the mode shifter coil is not energized in spin mode anyway.
