I am getting an f51 error on my Maytag Brovas XL. I think I have enough info to fix if if I could just get the darn thing open. Now matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to get the clips holding the top popped open. They seem to be shaped slightly differently that the basic A shaped clips I see on related YouTube videos. Any hints would be appreciated.

hello, i'm a junior service tech on my first year of work, and i know exactly the problem you're having, i've ran into that too. what i did (which works, but i really don't know if this is the PROPER way), is removed some screws on the back of the washer, enabling me to lift up on the top panel and pull it off. it takes a little wiggling, but it works for me.

Thank you for your response! I want to be sure I was clear and I am understanding you correctly. I need to open the whole top of the washer to access the tub area. The hinged part under the lid. I need to pop the clips on the front of the washer in the crack under the lid and open up the big area of the tub. Can you loosen screws on the back to make it easier? I essentially need to do what this guy did in this video, but I the Bravos XL clips are shaped differently and I cannot get them to move. F51 Maytag - YouTube

yes, that is what i was saying. i for some reason cannot unclip it either. so i basically remove the hinges in the back and take the top section off backwards :) i know i am possibly doing it wrong, but that seems to be the way it works for me. if anyone else viewing this knows how to correctly unclip the top section, please post your method :)

I don't know for sure but the parts diagram makes it look very similar to the VMW models. If it is the same, here is the procedure for opening top. Eric

oh ok!! so you can remove the top screw from the hinge and still keep the top on its hinge. Thanks a bunch, Eric. :)
