I inherited a stainless side-by-side, GE fridge/freezer (PSC25PSTASSVL450622) this summer when I bought a new house. I noticed that something was wrong with the unit when the previous owner pointed out that the ice-maker was not working during our walk through of the home. As it turns out, the ice-maker was functioning, but the freezer was not cold enough to freeze the cubes. When we moved in, we also noticed that the fridge compartment does not get sufficiently cold either.
The unit seems to get sufficiently cold every once in a long while, but for the most part both compartments are way too warm for way too long. The compressor runs, but I am not sure if it is more than it should be running. I would like to repair this myself vs. calling in a service person or getting rid of the unit.
Could this be the compressor? ...the main board? ...the thermostat?
Thoughts?

Remove the freezer back panel and describe the frost pattern.

Can you be more a little more descriptive of what you're asking? I am neither an HVAC guy nor a refrigeration guy, so please tell me exactly what you're looking for me to describe.
BTW - the model number of the unit is PSC25PSTA
Thanks!
