My problem is that when the timer is in the position of the elements are in heating on the dial, ex. Minutes of drying, even with the door open. The elements continue to be hot and active. Only time I see that there is no heating is when the timer is in the off position on the dial. Could this be the timer? Came home with the elements on and the top of the dryer was very hot. We were able before this in the middle of the drying process open the door take clothes out close the door and have no problem with heating with no drum spinning. Please tell what part I need to get.

If heat element comes on when timer is turned on but dryer motor not started, then you either have a grounded heater coil or the motor heat switch is stuck closed. You will need to unplug dryer, remove the back panel, disconnect red wire from heater element and red wire from thermostat and check each heater element terminal to metal case with multimeter set to highest resistance scale. If you get any resistance reading, you must replace the heater element.
