About a month ago the fridge and freezer were very warm. We emptied both, unplugged and cleaned the coils and underneath best we could. It began to operate fine. Yesterday the temp alarm went off, but only the freezer was losing temp. We unplugged it for about 20 min and when plugged back it it cooled. This morning the temp alarm once more went off. We unplugged for 45 min and waiting to see if the freezer will attempt to cool. Any suggestions to troubleshoot?

You seem to be missing a digit or two at the end of your model number. Please check this as there is different tech info for the different units.
When it fails what is running and what is not? Is the evaporator/freezer fan running? Is the condenser/compressor fan running? Is the compressor running? You can usually hear it but should also be able to feel it vibrating.
Other useful info when troubleshooting is what the frost on the evaporator coils looks like. Note that the check has to be done when the unit has the problem. Also the unit/compressor has had to be running for at least an hour. If you check it during or shortly after a defrost cycle then you may come to the wrong conclusion.
Compressor running, no frost or just frost in one area is - a sealed system problem.
Compressor running, evaporator clogged solid with frost/ice - a defrost problem.
Condenser fan runs, compressor does not - a start device problem or a compressor problem.
Condenser fan and compressor both off - a control problem. |
