The washer works great except; after the first drain, the washer will not spin. I get it to spin by tapping the power button and then it initiates the spin. Thought maybe the starter capacitor, but all other motor functions work great and when I do this brief power off/restart, I hear a single clunk and the drum starts spinning. Thought clutch, transmission, brakes, so I have taken everything apart. Opened up the transmission and no shavings, or bound up spots, no excessive dust from brakes, lots of pad left, clutch has lots of wear left on it, no unwanted grease or oil or shinny wear spots, all looks relatively good. Need some guidance before the wife goes out and blows 800-1000 bucks on a new one, and we all know a new washer means a new dryer too!!! Thanks to all for any help.

The motor must pause for a few seconds after the 2 minute drain period in order for the gearcase to shift out of neutral. If motor does not pause, the timer is bad. You are pausing motor by cycling the power.
