I have a LG range, model number LRE30755st. Yesterday evening, the front left burner turned on high and could not be turned off except with the circuit breaker. I'm guessing the the problem is a defective control panel in IPB section 2 #2006, but would like to have someone with more experience confirm or dispute my guess, before I shell out $125 for a new control panel. I appreciate any help that you can provide.

Just a quick update to my previous post. The actual bad part was the relay board, which with hindsight seems obvious.I made a couple bad guesses in trying to fix this problem and ended up with some parts I returned for a refund. That whole process took about a month. Guess they must bench test the part to make sure it's still functional. The refund that was granted was very generous, and actually beyond what I had expected to receive.
I've been a customer of Appliance Parts Pros for about two years, and once again they have earned my continuing business.

I have a GE electric range, the left front or large burner will sometimes just jump glowing red on high with the knob at medium. It could cook fine for 5 or 10 min. then all of thee sudden it's at the highest temp. but the knob has not moved.

If your asking for my opinion, without knowing anything about your range, I would guess that the problem is in the control panel. Of course, I've been wrong before. Recently, as a matter of fact.:D

IIRC LG had a recall on the control boards that realy control the surface burners and were replacing them free of charge.

How does one learn about a recall like this? They certainly didn't contact me.

LG Electric Range RecallGoogled this...... If you registered your product with the warranty card usually manufacturers will notify you of recalls. I dont think that this was a regular one, but if someone called in with the complaint they covered it????
