My whirlpool washer's 'hold to START' button is floppy and not springing back. The START button works normally 80% of the time, but sometimes has to be 'massaged' to get it to lock the door and start the washer.

Can I fix this from the front by removing the selector knob and the clear bezel around the button to remove and replace the START button? Is there a broken spring underneath perhaps? Is the clear bezel holding the button and spring in place?

The dryer is stacked on the washer. The alternative seems to be to lift the dryer off, remove the washer back, the washer top, and the washer front in order to remove the control panel. Then I would still have to remove the knob and bezel.

The knob does not pull off easily. Do I have to use tools to pry it off or is something (a clip or set screw) holding the selector knob?

Thanks to anyone who has worked with this panel and can offer me advice!
