We have a Maytag front loader in which the drum vibrates on the spin cycle so that it rubs on the rubber seal and fills the drum with smoke.

Does anybody know what the problem might be?

Thanks

If it still shakes with no clothes in it and makes a noise in spin, you probably have bad bearings, or a busted spin basket spider support. Remove the back and pull off the belt and check the basket for bad bearings, if so, this is a major job to fix.
