Hello! So my old Kenmore Dryer that has endured many years of use, and has finally broken down to the point where I am thinking of replacing during this tough economy. Although it almost takes two cycles to completley dry the clothes (thats problem #2), the main problem is the drum does not tumble. Power is evident, and the drum belt is intact.

Any thoughts are much welcome!!

I cannot find any info on this unit. Cannot even find who makes 963 units for Sears.

There is usually a thermal fuse in the unit that if it blows disconnects power to the motor. This fuse is often mounted on the blower assembly (white with 2 wires going to it)

Easiest way to check is to unplug the unit, disconnect one wire on the fuse and measure it with a meter, should be 0 ohms.

Jiggery pokery method is:
Unplug the unit.
Remove both wires from the fuse and short them together.
Tape them up so they cannot short to the frame.
Plug the unit in and give it a try.

If blown replace it ASAP as this is a critical safety device.

Give the interior a good cleaning including the blower wheel.
Also clean/check your vent system.
These can also cause you to have to run two cycles to get dry clothes and are the most common cause of the fuse blowing.

NOTE that the above is a guess as I have no parts or technical data on this unit.
