Now it just hums (and the light over the sink dims) I tried hitting the reset switch on the bottom but it didn't help. There's nothing stuck in the disposal that I can see or feel by sticking my hand in it. Anything I should try? Thanks as always...

I was just about to post that the plate doesn't move but I decided to try it one more time and I guess I pried it loose so now it's working! I will say it sounds a little gnarly so it might be on its last legs... but I can at least replace it on my own time and not in a panic...
