I have a Frigidaire upright freezer GLFH21F8HWD . About a month ago the temperature was running about 10 Deg F warmer that was shown on the digital readout. And it had been getting frost on the door. I changed the defrost thermostat (on the coil). The Coil was frozen over so i defrosted it. And it was running about 3 degrees high after the change.
This weekend i opened it up and the temp was about 17 deg inside. The outside was set to 0 F. I set it to Extreme Freeze and got the temp to about -10 F overnight. I then reset it to normal at 0 deg F and the inside temp was coming up to about 10 Deg F.
I checked the coil on the inside and it was not frozen over. The Defrost thermostat and defrost heater both have continuity across them.
My thought is the control panel might be bad .

When the interior temperature was too high the second time was the compressor running?
If yes and there was little or no frost on the evaporator coils then it is probably a sealed system problem.
Be sure to check the coils after the compressor has run for at least an hour. If you check them during or after a defroost cycle then you can end up with the wrong diagnosis.

I the compressor and it's fan were off, then it could be a control problem.
May also be that you were in a defrost cycle.

Could be a thermistor problem.
The thermistor should read about 10k ±0.5k Ohms at 70°. It is a NTC
thermistor, therefore, the lower the temperature, the higher the resistance and at a higher temperature, the resistance is lower.
Note: A thermistor very rarely goes bad. Please check the wire harness that connects the thermistor
