Hello, yesterday i used my cooktop everything was fine, today i tried to turn on a burner didn't work, in fact none of them work, i did check to make sure there was power coming to each unit and there is. I checked to make sure the burners themselves were okay and they are. my cooktop is over 3o years old but can they all just die overnight? this is a ge electric cooktop model JP670:cool: Thank you so much for any help you can provide., i cannot cook until i get this fixed:confused:

It is nearly impossible for all elements to go out at the same time so I think you have a power problem.
I do not have access to GE wiring diagrams so have to do a bit of guessing.
If you were checking power to Neutral/ground then that may have misled you. On most units one side of the elements are connected to one side of the line all the time so you see 120 at the elements all the time. Problem is that the elements run off of 240 volts so you have to check that.
Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. Check the voltage at the plug. Your unit may be hard wired in so you have go to the terminal strip. L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip.
