My refrigerator freezes food - I have replaced the damper control several times. Now, it also leaks water from underneath the unit. Thanks

Here are your parts Parts for Maytag MSD2652KEU Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.comOn the freezing food in the fresh food section. Check your freezer temperature. It should be between 0 and 5 degrees F. I cannot find a vent between the freezer and fresh food sections other than the chiller controls (item 20 in section 05). Take a look to see if you can find one. What can happen is that if there is no air flow regularly between the freezer and fresh food sides then the cold air can settle in the fresh food side and cause things to freeze at the bottom of that compartment. If there is is no separate vent perhaps try opening the lower chiller vent some to see if this helps. The above just applies if the bottom of the fresh food side is too cold. The vents must be unobstructed in both compartments. As to leaking on the floor you will have to check the drip pan under the unit. Could be it has a crack in it. Remove the rear cover to see if you can isolate the water leak. If the unit has a tube that directs defrost water from the evaporator drip tray to the tray under the unit then check that it is still over the lower drip tray. If the unit has an ice make and/or in door water then you may have a leaking valve/connection. |
