I removed the starter for the compressor and it clicks/rattles when you shake it.

Can the relay be "hot wired" so it will work untill I get the part?

No, because the power must initially come in to the start winding then switch to the run winding.

Ok...I replaced the overload relay with a new one from app.com and it still clicks and will not start the compressor...sounds just like the old one did....suggestions? Thanks, Jeff

Adding a little more info...The fridge started cooling it maintains 24-30 on the top shelf with the temp control on the coldest setting. I unplugged it to move it back into its spot and it did not restart again. I can hear the relay clicking and trying to start when its out away from the wall... Suggestions on what to look at now??

Ok pulled the new relay off and it rattles like the old relay did.... bad relay? suggestions? when the compressor does start it will drop the fridge to 20 degrees so I assume the compressor is fine....
