part number is Bearing-Hinge upper OEM: AP2115812. Due to a tremendous popping sound and effect when I opened the fridge, I recently removed the door, and using parts I bought from APP, I fixed the issue with new lower door bearings. the top black plastic bearing that sat flush was also cracked and so after about 40 minutes of gut wrenching pulling with two needle nose pliers I was able to get the original hinge bearing out of the door. When I put the new one in (tapered and a tight fit) it wasn't flush like the others and due to the taper, I pressed on it with palm...the result...the top broke off unevenly after applying gentle even pressure. So now what? Any advice on how to get the plastic out and replace again? APP was kind enough to send a replacement out already. Did I do something wrong or was the piece faulty as I'm guessing. Both the old and new parts are very brittle plastic. Any advice on 1) removing the broken piece from inside the door properly, quickly and with minimal exertion ( i cant get at it) and 2) proper replacement of new bearing hinge would be most welcome. I'd hate to have this $5 part ruin my labor and prevent us from enjoying a smooth operating door...many thanks...

The original bearing is difficult to remove because the foaming insulation acts as a glue during the manufacturing process. The replacement should come out with a pair of forceps if it is deeper than what you can reach. When you go to replace it, you can use a screwdriver to push the foam out of the way so the new bearing will fir in smoothly. That foam is pretty easy to push and move with a small screwdriver to get it so the new bearing slides in snugly but without force.
