My washer initially was not spinning after the rinse cycle, then it started to get stuck on different cycles and I would have to manually turn the dial and advance it. Then it totally stopped working on any cycle and it would just make this buzzing sound and it smelled like some burned rubber or something. So I decided to change the timer, the washer started to work normally again and after 2 loads of laundry, we seem to be back at square one. On my 3rd load, I noticed the washer had stopped on the wash cycle and it made a buzzing sound and the smell is back! Any recommendations on what it could be. Please help!

If you let it rest for an hour or two, does it start working again?

I believe that your motor is faulty and may need to be replaced. If you lean the machine back against the wall and prop it up, can you turn the motor pulley in the LF corner?

I haven't even opened it. Do I open it from the front to get to the motor? Is this costly? Is this even worth to repair? It still makes a buzzing noise for a few seconds and then the smell starts.

The motor pulley can be turned with no disassembly by leaning the machine back. The top will hinge up after the clips between the top and front panel are released with a putty knife. Once the top is up, you will see the screws that secure the front panel in place.
