I have a 3 year old Whirlpool Gold Quiet Parnter V dishwasher, model GU3600XTVY2, that is leaking at the diverter motor (W10056349). Do I need to replace the sump at the same time I replace the diverter motor? I'm not seeing any leak from the large sump seal, so I'm wondering if I can just replace the diverter motor by itself.

Page 2: I did more research and found that the only reason I would need to get the sump would be to get the shaft seal for the dvtr motor. A rather expensive option if all you need is the seal because you can't purchase the shaft seal separately. So, I decided to remove the dvtr motor and pull the shaft seal. After a bit of cleaning, I reassembled the seal and motor but this time positioning the seal with the groove side towards the motor as it seems to fit onto the shaft shoulder better (this is opposite of how the seal was originally installed). I've run the dishwasher several times now and have yet to see a leak. My question now is, what is the proper orientation of the pump shaft seal? groove side up towards the sump, or down towards the divertor motor?
