Dryer starts, stops, and restarts during drying cycles

GE front loading dryer will start but stops after running 6-7 minutes. The timer continues to count down on digital display and after a minute or two dryer starts back up. It will run for 10-15 minutes and shuts off again. It stays off 4-5 minutes and restarts again. A clicking sound can be heard from behind the control panel every few seconds while the dryer is stopped. Also, when the dryer shuts itself off, if you lightly hit the control panel, the dryer will cut itself back on. I've looked at the connections inside control panel and didn't find anything loose. It started doing this a few days ago so I took it apart yesterday. I found that the slides needed to be replaced, the felt seal possibly needed to be replaced (looked worn), and top bearing piece that holds slides needed replacing as well because one of the plastic nipples that hold the slides in was broken so slide wouldn't stay in. I ordered all the parts, had them overnight end, and replaced all such parts today. The dryer is still jacked up. Can anyone please offer suggestions on what may be the culprit. I would greatly appreciate it.

I determined this morning that it doesn't really matter where you hit the dryer, it will restart once you hit it lightly on the front or the sides. It's almost like it is getting in a bind or something and when you shake it or strike it, it restarts but then eventually shuts off again.
