My Whirlpool side by side will shut off after running for a undetermined amount of time, anywhere from 1-24 hours. Both the compressor and fan. If I unplug/replug back it it will start back up only to shut down again. I replace the relay but that's as far as I've gone....any thoughts?

Need more info on the symptoms.
It is normal for a unit to shut off. If the unit is running continuously then that is a problem. The unit should cycle on/off once it hits set point temperature also it will shut off the compressor and both fans during a defrost cycle which lasts about half an hour.

I am assuming you mean the condenser/compressor fan.

Is the compressor very hot?
Could it be that the compressor's thermal protect is opening, but usually you will hear a clicking re: the compressor cools down and retries starting.

In the month prior to the fridge shutting down it would "click" for 10 minutes or so after opening/closing the fridge or freezer door. Now there's no "clicking" it just stops running, shuts down and won't do anything until it gets unplugged/replugged. I'll replugged it in and check compressor temp. after it shuts down again. More to come..
Thanks

Compressor does get hot, I'm guessing around 110° by touch..

Since both the condenser fan and the compressor are off and just unplugging it resets the unit so in works OK I would say that the control board is bad.

The prior clicking is worrisome as this may have been a symptom of a compressor problem and there is always a possibly that this is what blew the board.

What was the fix for your fridge? Mine is doing the exact same thing (Model GD5SHAXMQ00) First there was clicking sounds after opening and closing the door. Then the compressor would shut off and I could restart it by unplugging it from the wall and replugging it back in. After about 10 hours, it shuts off again. It will stay off until I reset the power with again. All the ice was melting and dripping in front of the freezer door. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
