I installed my own dishwasher. It is a KUD1021.

I have installed enough dishwashers to know that everything was installed correctly. After I installed and check leaks I ran it through a test cycle. Decided to do the heavy duty cycle. After an hour of watching the news I came back to check on it and it was still in the wash cycle. So I stayed there for about 30 minutes and it would wash, wash, wash, etc. never advancing to the next cycle. After two total hours it was obvious something was wrong so I canceled the cycled and it drained properly. I am just not sure what is causing it not to advance past the wash cycle. I make appliance deliveries/installs but I and not a repair man. My guess is that its the control panel or perhaps its a heating issue.

This dishwasher is brand new though it is probably 6-12 months old. I got it basically for free because we could never sell it.

Any ideas would be helpful.

The first thing - if it's less then a year old by the manufacturing date, coded in the serial number- it is still under the manufacturer warranty and you do not need any prove of purchase. Just tell them that it came with the house.

The problem could be caused by the incoming water temperature if it's much less then 120°F due to water heats up to proper temperature by the dishwasher .

Check the "Use and Care" book for the estimated time for the heavy duty cycle. It could be more then 120 minutes.

If you would like more accurate advise I need the complete model number of the dishwasher.

Gene.

Yes it is the water temp coming in.

I decided to run the water in the sink prior to starting the dishwasher until it was warm. Then started the dishwasher on normal and everything works fine.

I haven't tried the heavy duty again since I realized it was the water temperature going in. The heavy duty has to reach 151 degrees. But we usually rinse the dishes prior to putting in the dishwasher so normal wash is fine since we really use it to sanitize.

I am going to run a heavy duty cycle now that I know the dishwasher works and I'll post the results in case someone else experiences a similar problem. Only other problem is that the dishwasher doesn't have a manual so I am not sure on the Heavy Duty Cycle run-time.

The model number is a KUD1021RBL3.

I tried to google this model number it its hard to find much about it.
