Have a Kenmore Elite side by side model 106.56702500.
Yesterday noticed the fan was running non-stop. Investigation showed the compressor is cycling ok it is just the circulation fan in the rear of the freezer compartment that runs.
Both freezer and fridge are cold so thought probably not diffuser.
Removed shelves and internal rear cover in freezer compartment. The coil looks to be freezing up so I assume the defrost control or something need replacing.
Any thing I can check to be sure?

Here are your parts http://www.appliancepartspros.c....aspx?model=106.56702500A parts breakdown should be available at the Sears parts site. Unfortunately they do not share theses with other parts suppliers. See the attachment for your tech sheet. I am not sure that you have a problem. If it was a defrost problem then your compressor would run all the time. For it to be a defrost problem the evaporator coils must be clogged with frost/ice to the point that the evaporator can cannot pull air through them. Some gfrost on the coils is normal between defrost cycles. Check your compartment temperatures. the freeze should be between 0 and 5 degrees F. The fresh food should be close to 40 degrees F. Check the fresh food door seals. |
