Newbie here so please pardon my ignorance.
As of yesterday, our gas Neptune operates/turns but does not get hot at all.
Perhaps coincidentally, the last two weeks or so I had actually mentioned to my wife that it seemed like it was always on high heat no matter what setting I used. Whether that is true or relative to this issue I don't know but I'll come back to this in a minute.
A few seconds after I turn the unit on I can here a single "clack" (coils / valve?) and when I turn it off I hear a lesser "clack". With the front cover off this seems to be coming from the general area of the burner assembly.
Using the Repair Blog troubleshooting steps here, I've done the following using a digital multimeter (which I'm not exactly proficient with but I read that FAQ too)
1. Testing the leads from the Ignitor, I get no reading at all on the meter in resistance mode; just the same 0.F reading I get when the leads are not touching anything. Nor do I get continuity tone. If I touch both meter leads together in resistance mode I get 0.000 - In continuity mode I get tone.
2. Testing the bare terminals on the Flame Sensor I get continuity tone
3. I removed the Ignitor and there is a white "arc" spot near the middle of the gray tip thing.
Based on what little I understand this seems like a bad Ignitor to me. Anyone here agree or disagree with me on this?
Going back to the previous few weeks where I felt like the dryer was on high heat all the time, is it likely that I have more than just one issue going on and / or one is related to the other?
I'd like to try to repair this myself if possible, though I'm the first to admit I'm not very mechanically inclined. Also, I don't want to waste a week on it only to find out it's the computer board and I have to call the repair center anyway. Anything else I should test before ordering an ignitor or should I just call a repair center?
Any and all questions, comments and suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks! Robert Las Vegas

Thanks to the repair blog I was able to replace the ignitor for under $50 including overnight shipping!
