Ok, before you give me the "well, check this, this and this" list, here is what i have done
Checked the 220v outlet, it's good and working properly
I have tested the heating element, run thermostat, high limit thermostat, fuse. I have verified the timer is working properly with a meter AND took it apart and checked it.
The dryer turns on, runs, but will NOT heat up. There is no voltage going to the element, at all. I have tested it unplugged and plugged in. At this point I am just completely stumped.
any input would be appreciated!

Here are your parts. The last digit in the model number seems to be missing so you will have to choose the correct one from the Matching Model Numbers section. Parts for RED4440VQ - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment. It is for a VQ1 unit. In timed dry mode, does the timer advance when running? If not then odds are that the centrifugal switch (2M/1M0 on the motor is not closing when the motor gets close to operating speed. If the timer does advance. Set your meter to the most sensitive resistance scale. Also short the leads together before starting so you can see if there is a zero offset in the meter. Unplug the unit and attach one meter lead to L1 on the line cord and leave it there . Now work your way back through the heater circuit with the other meter lead till you find the open. |

this was the problem!!
I ( luckily ) found a similar dryer on craigslist locally, with a switch problem.. Got it ( for 40 bucks ), brought it home, tore them both completely apart, swapped motors, and now it's working 100%!!
Thanks for the advice!! Very much appreciated!!

You are welcome
And thanks for getting back to us. Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually worked instead of just suggestions about what could be the cause. |
