Hi,

Recently bought a house that had this undercounter ice maker. Have been running it now for 2-3 days and so far there is just a handful of ice in the machine. I know the bucket is not cooled, but should it be as warm as 8c/46f? Everything (from my very limited understanding) seems to be working fine. Water fills in the reservoir, runs over the cooling plate, freezes then eventually slides onto the rack before falling into the bucket. It just seems to not be saving the ice, or just not producing it quickly enough to get some momentum. I tried adding ice from my fridge to kick-start it, and it seemed to help but by next morning all that ice had melted.

I've cleaned any dirt from the condenser with a vacuum cleaner and am going to get some Calgon cleaner today to put it through a cleaning cycle. Is there anything else I should try myself before calling someone out?

One thing I have noticed, the ice freezing over the plate often extends up to an inch past the plate which means water (assuming the water with the rejected minerals) runs over the ice, ,missing the drain and going down into the bucket with the existing ice (and probably helping it to melt quicker.. ) Should the ice be extending over the freezing plate like this? How does the machine release the ice to the cutter grid normally as it seems to get quite thick on my plate and has trouble moving to the cutter.. Also, am I correct in thinking that it should take 20-25 mins to do a complete cycle (water/cool on plate/slide off/fall to bucket)? I think mine is taking much longer..

Cheers!

Update.

Watched 2 iterations of ice making. Everything seems to be working fine, first time. 2nd time, when the ice detached from the plate it got stuck (caught the plastic side of the grid and remained mostly over the plate). The next cycle started and water ran over the ice and straight into the bucket and over the existing ice.

Is this what is causing my lack of ice, and is it as simple as ensuring the ice maker is level so that the ice is not catching when it detaches, and thus allowing water to run over it and into the bin?

Thanks again!

Did you ever get this figured out, I'm having same issue. It will make first block but the second one gets stuck and then all the water runs into bin.

Hey,

I kinda fixed the issue. The problem was that the freezing plate was not straight (the whole top mechanism was not straight) so it would always slide off to the left, catching the edge. It was a simple fix; I just got something to jam the left hand side up a few CMs, making it level. Now I'd say it works 80% of the time, with the odd piece catching the side and getting stuck.

Just make sure the mechanism is level. Mine needed raised up slightly on the left hand side so I fashioned a prop and wedged it in to raise it back up to where it needed to be!

Hope that helps!
