I have a 1954 frigidaire refrigerator by gm (serial #890371a-768635) that i purchased about a year ago it worked fine I unplugged it about a month ago to paint, when I plugged it back in after about 2 week of being unplugged to paint it will not cool, the motor runs but it does not cool. I did not put in the horizontal position to paint it was in vertical position during paint process. Please advise on what my problem could be as i now have a very nice looking refrigerator that does not cool. I will not be able to find any info on this unit due to it's age.
If by motor you mean the compressor then odds are the unit is toast unless you want to put a lot of dollars into it.
You can usually hear the compressor but should also be able to feel it vibrating.
Are you getting any cooling at all? Is the compressor running all the time except when the unit goes through a defrost cycle? I am not sure if the unit has auto defrost.
If the compressor runs the unit should cool unless you have a sealed system problem which is an expensive repair.
If the unit has an evaporator/freezer fan is it running? If this fan does not run the evaporator coils will cool but air is not pulled through then to cool the freezer compartment down. |
