My dryer was not turning off so I replaced the timer. Now with the new timer installed, it works (dryer turns off automatically) only when i turn the knob to the timer setting, but on the Accudry setting the dryer does not turn off. Any idea why it only works on the timer setting but not on the Accudry setting? Is it a wiring issue?

Here are your parts Parts for Whirlpool WED5840SW0 Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the wiring diagram. The 3way it works in auto is that a low voltage is applied between the two sensor strips. Then if there is any moisture between the strips a small current flows. the board senses this and holds the timer advance off. When the moisture is gone no current flows the board then advances the timer. Clean between the sensor strips (item 30 in section 03). Use water if that does nothing try isopropyl alcohol . Just be sure to let the vapors dissipate before trying the dryer. Check that there is not lint etc. between the strips at the back. If the above does nothing then odds are that the board (item 42 in section 02) is toast. |
