My upright whirlpool freezer is constantly running, but it is not freezing everything. There is frost build up on the back near the bottom, I don't know if that is suppose to be there or not.

Here are your parts Parts for EV188NYWS - AppliancePartsPros.comYou are missing a couple digits at the end of your model number so will have to choose the correct model from the Matching Model Numbers section. Is the evaporator/freezer fan running? If not that may be your problem. Check for 120 volts across it. If there is 120 and the fan does not turn replace the fan. If the fan is running. Remove the cover st the back of the freezer so you can inspect the evaporator coils. If they are heavily iced/frosted over then it is probably a defrost problem. Usually a fairly inexpensive fix. How to troubleshoot this is on the site or just reply and we will give you the procedure. If there is only frost in one area (usually where the freon enters the coils) then it is probably a sealed system problem. This would be an expensive repair. If the unit/sealed system is not under warranty then often it makes more sense to put the dollars towards a new unit. You said that the unit was less than 1 year old so I would check your warranty. |
