This refrig is approx 7 years old.
This model is the stainless french doors with a bottom freezer.

Problem: Electricity has lights and temp indicators on, fan close to condenser is running, but the condenser is not running and is very hot.
I have unplugged from the wall power for 10 min and plugged in but the condenser still will not kick on.

Are there any fuses to check (I could not find any). Are there any other recommendations on what to test before I call in the service repair cavalry?!

Many Thanks,

Mike

Here are your parts
Parts for Maytag MFD2562KES10 Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.com

Looks like the first section is screwed up as it shows washing machine parts.
So others listings in this may also be bad.

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

The compressor is getting voltage since the condenser fan is running and it is wired in parallel with the compressor.

It could be the compressor, the PTC start device or the capacitor.

You said that the compressor is not running so I am assuming that it is not vibrating.

I would check the compressor windings first.
Below is a good site with info on how to do this.
How To Fix a Refrigerator - Appliance Repair Guide - ACME HOW TO.com

Note that this is not a definitive test.
It will tell you if the compressor is bad but does not tell you that the compressor is good, as it may have other internal problems that are preventing it from starting.

There is not a good electrical way to check the start device, so you will have to try another device to check it.

There is also not a good way to check the capacitor.
The meter check can show a bad capacitor but again it is not definitive.
Sometimes they only break down when full supply voltage is applied to them which a meter does not do.

If it is a compressor problem this will be an expensive repair so get a quote before getting it fixed.
