The front left burner on my kenmore glasstop is only half working. There is only a switch for the heat, and then a button for simmer select. When I turn it on high the outer 50% turns read, but the middle part is clearly not turning on. I haven't pulled anything apart yet, just trying to figure out if its possible a simple fix.

this is what it looks like on high, before the entire middle part would be red, now you can clearly see part of the burner isn't on

It could be the element itself or the infinite switch.

A model number would be helpful.
Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.com
I may then be able to find a wiring diagram that could make it easier for you to measure the heating coils in the element.
If they check out OK for continuity the I would replace the infinit switch.
