Hello everyone
I`m trying to repair my mother`s GE washing machine. The problem according to her is that the drum itself does not spin during operation. From what she has told me the motor runs and the machine drains fine, but she does not know if the agitator is working correctly.
She had washed a sofa cover with the cushion covers as well(maybe too big of a load?) and had put a load of towels in and that's when she noticed the drum wasn`t spinning. I have pulled the front cover off and inspected the drive belt which was my first culprit but everything inside this machine looks brand new. Its only a little over 3 years old.
The pulleys do not seem locked up but the bottom part of the agitator only turned slightly with great resistance until it did lock up. Ive got the front cover off and my tools out ready to go if anyone might know what I need to look at, until then I`m trying to talk her into some good ole` home cookin`:D

Put it in spin mode. Does the motor pulley, belt and main drive pulley rotate? Does the transmission rotate?

Eric Thanks for the reply. I have the water supply disconnected at the moment, would the pump be damage if I do put in spin cycle without water supply and drain connected?
