I have a Maytag Neptune with a moldy boot. I have followed ALL of the recommended cleaning methods to get rid of the mold and the moldy smell. At this point I figure this part needs to be replaced. My concern is should I replace the hose clamp and little drain pieces while I'm at it? Parts 21-23 on the diagram (I think).
Also, is there a way to clean the filter? on the plastic part behind the boot (cover,tub seal). It appears to be a lint screen that runs about the bottom third of the tub.
I now know to keep the door open when not using my washer, but the damage is long since done.

When replacing the boot you need to replace the rear clamp or spring and the front spring as well i always do otherwise you come home to a boot falling off and a flood in your house sometimes...........Here's a video to help....i tried looking at the schematics for the unit for part numbers for you but this schematic sucks sorry. maytag boot replacement - YouTube
