I have a frigidaire refrigerator that just stopped cooling a few days ago. The fans are going, but no compressor. I tested the compressor with a multimeter and it seems fine, but the starter relay rattles when I shake it, which I read means it is bad. So I went and bought a replacement and plugged it in. Same issue, fans are going but no compressor. I took off the new relay and it is rattling now too. Any idea what could be going on?

Thanks,
Justin

FYI, I did not replace the capacitor. I just plugged the old one into the new starter. Don't know if I should have replaced this too...

Testing the compressor with a ohmmeter will not detect burnt windings. If the start device failed when installed, either you installed it wrong, or your compressor is shorted, test the windings for a short to ground.
