Good afternoon, I have a question for a repair person. Our refrigerator and freezer are not working correctly. First, our freezer would not hold a low enough temperature - ice cream and frozen fruit were defrosting (on the bottom of the freezer). We turned the temp down, and that helped get the freezer down to ~5 degrees. However, the refrig got up to ~46-50. Last night a clicking noise started coming from the unit, and the freezer stopped freezing things - everything in there started defrosting, and there is now a puddle of water on the floor (I'm assuming from the ice that was in the freezer). I can hear the fan running, but I don't think there's any cool air coming out. I'm considering replacing the run capacitor and the combination start device - will that help, or am I just throwing money at a bad compressor?

To update my previous post, I've taken the cardboard cover off my fridge to fiddle with the compressor area - I removed the run capacitor and start device from the compressor. Directly after unplugging the fridge, the compressor was HOT to the touch and the start device was warm to the touch. I will check the run capacitor and start device for continuity and hope one of them is not working correctly, because if they're not, it may be time for a new fridge.
Does anyone have anything else I could check before springing for a new fridge?
