Hi, I have an LG Dryer DLGX3471V a little over a year old that I bought from Sears. I have their limited extended warranty. The problem is, when I start it, it makes a lot of noise which sounds like a big fire. The reflection of the flame is visible. After about a minute the dryer stops.

I called the Sears technician who said there was too much gas coming into the dryer. He tried slowly turning off the gas (throttling the gas he called it) and switching the dryer on but the problem kept happening until he turned off the gas too low and the dryer would not heat.

I called the gas company and the gas tech did a pressure check right at the pipe leading into the dryer and he said the pressure was fine. He checked the gas stove and water heater too and those are working fine.

I called Sears again and they said to call an "independent" person to come and check the gas pressure. I feel this is a ridiculous request as the gas company person already checked it, so why pay an independent person to come in?

Please let me know what could be the issue. Thanks in advance!

usually what you are experiencing is classic rollback on flume caused by a restricted vent. try removing the vent from the back of the dryer (for TEST purposes only) and running the machine. if it works fine, it is a home vent issue not a dryer issue.
rollback is where the flame is not being drawn back into the flume, usually caused by air flow restriction, the flume heats up and the safety thermostat shuts down the gas valve till thermo cools down enough for that particular bi-metal safety thermo to re-set.
hope that helps
