You must remove the screw that holds the switch on in order to remove the cover. Discoloration at connector means it's getting hot which could be a bad connection at the wire terminal. Unplug the connector and look at the orange wire terminal for burning/corrosion. Yes, run washer as normal with cabinet off.

You posted while I was composing. I think you still have a problem that needs to be addressed. Bad connection somewhere with the orange wire, either at the motor (most likely) or the timer.

Yes I'm sure you are right, I did push and pull gently on the orange wire at the motor and the timer, I pushed my probe into the orange wire connector at the motor, and I did remove the screw on the switch assembly and moved the assembly some, it started to completely pull away from the motor then I got chicken and put it back together. It did not see any corosion at all, I really want to see those contacts now. I'm going to let it run and see how it does, if the problem re-appears I'm going to look hard at the motor connections. I really appreciate your assistance. Thx Howard
