I have a 2001 Whirlpool refrigerator. The start device was bad, and a new was ordered. THe original part number was 2204412, but the suggested substitute part was part number 8201799. Now according to what Ive read online, it says to attach the red, white and blue wires accordingly. I have no blue wire! What am I missing?
Thanks.....

Thanks..... According to the wiring diagram for your model you will only have a blue wire if you have a run capacitor. Evidently your's doesn't have one. Below is the diagram for your model.

So is the sub part number correct? Ive replace the wires according to the diagram, and get nothing. It seems that if I was able to get the original replacement part, it would connect correctly.....

The single pin is the one the wire from the overload attaches to. The red wire from the refrig should be the feed wire to the overload. The white wire from the refrig should go to the start device, which should attach to the other two pins on the compressor. If that's the way you have it, the next question would be, what was the unit doing prior to the overload and start device replacement?
