The motor on my Matag Dish washer turns very slow and stops once the start-up phase of the motor is complete. All the "Field Service Test" and "Manual Function Checks" and showing normal operation and are actually cycling the motor. I am replacing it and the seal. I have to know though should I also look at the capacitor also. I don't have a multi meter to check it, but would a fault of the capacitor have shown on the "test". It is only $10 and I tore into washer already to clean the impellar and food grinder. They were clean and that is when I noticed the motor was stopping about 5 seconds after the start of the operation.

Let me know if I am on the right track or way off base.

I appreciate the advice. I was looking at my diagram but it does not have a location for the capacitor. It just says there is one somewhere. Do you have any ideas where it should be. I guess I can track the wires from the motor back to it if I have to unless it is in the door.

I placed a post today for replacing a motor in a Maytag. The parts shown here are almost identical to mine, but the Service Manual link doesn't work. Could you post again, or is IE7 the issue?

Let me ask a general question then. Can the motor/pump assembly for the Maytag be replaced from within the tub, i.e. no uninstallation of the whole DW?
