My oven doesn't work properly. The broiler comes on and stays on at any temperature setting. I thought the sensor was bad and replaced it. The ove still behaves the same way. The old control board is WB27X5579. It is obsolete. I was wondering if I could replace it with WB27X10311? They look very similar and have the same wire connections. Can someone explain why they are not compatible?

Thanks in advance. This is a great forum for finding repair answers!!!

Thank you for posting your question, as I came across searching for the same answer in hopes to help us fix our oven, that is without going broke..Or, having to buy a whole newer range...Sadly..we're on a very tight budget currently.
Did anyone assist you with this information as of yet,or asked same question on a different site???
If so..what was the resolution to this please...Having the Same problem as well...
Our oven is only going on broil ( no bake) and clock/digital is on the fritz with bunch of zero's and not working at times when bake aka "broil" is on... Told it was the control panel causing this issue, after very nice thick bacon and Yummy blueberry home-made muffins seen their fate one Sunday morning!....ALL burnt, smoking oven and bad burnt bacon smell in our home for two days after, is how we discovered our control panel finally broke! Horrible...
The control panel needs to be replaced, which of course...This particular part is discontinued unfortunately for us. Sadly.. Did you figure out yet if another similar part could make all well again ? I found one part on ******** for $199.99,but no sense in buying that plus new heating element and face..Could place that money towards a new one... Are there any other part #'s that can be used to replace WB27X5579 control...Thank you and Good Luck ! :)
