My Kenmore died. No lights on display, will not start. here is what I've done.

1. checked handle latch and switch. All works. Power in and out of switch.
2. Have power to the thermal cutout and out to the control board.
3. Removed all connectors and ribbon wire.
4. inspected PC board. no signs of burning or bad solder joints. Re-installed control board. still no power.
Is there anything else other than the control board that could cause this.

I can get a control board for around $65 But would appreciate a second opinion about my diagnosis before spending hard to come by $$ that I can't get back

Thanks in advance
David

Okay, I found the problem i think. on the flexible ribbon wire there are 8 pathways that that have been disrupted. Probably due to a lightning strike as it worked fine before a thunderstorm the other day. The ribbon and user interface seem to be bonded. Do I have to replace the entire panel? Do you have one? PN on it is 3383469 for black

Your model number seems to be short several digits at the end.
Kenmore numbers are usually 3 numbers, a period and then an additional 8 numbers.

Not sure what you mean by "8 pathways that that have been disrupted".
If you mean they burned up then odds are that the control board is also toast.

It is probably not worth fixing if you have to replace both the control panel and the control board.
