Defrost timer??? My Whirlpool side by side was worm for 4 days with only the bottom shelf of the freezer remaining frozen and the bottom shelf of the refrigerator somewhat cold. This morning it's nice and cold again and I can hear more than just the fan running now. It is very old, (over 23 years) but very well built and quiet. We would like to keep it. Can you help??

Thank you Gene, My wife cleaned the bottom reciently. The fan in the freezer is working now, but only the fan under the frige was working during the trouble, no other sounds. Any merit to my questioning the defrost timer?

Possible the fan in the freezer (evaporator fan) is the culprit. - The evaporator fan motor kit Part number: AP3110893
