Hi there - I have a strange situation..
Just moved into an apartment - bought a second hand washer and dryer. 1st day of install both turned on and tested, dryer got hot. But, 1st Load of clothes and dryer quit getting hot, clothes never dried. So called them out - brought a new heating element, tested dryer, dryer got hot, But 1st load of clothes same thing - dryer quit getting hot and never dried the clothes. So I call the company i bought it from back out and they just bring me a replacement dryer and hall the old one off... Turn it on and test it... it gets hot. But again... 1st load of clothes dryer breaks and does not get hot. It must be something at the apartment right? It fries the heating element or fuse or something in the first 15 minutes of use each time.
Any thoughts? I am not a repair man so keep it simple. If i need to hire someone than i will - but would rather save the money.

I will take any ideas seriously! I have no clue what to start looking for or at?
Can electricity or a bad cable do this? Is it possible i got two bad dryers in the same week from the same company AND a heating element? I feel its not.
call dryer repairman? Apartment manager? anyone? anyone? Bueller?

OK - so I had the handy man come out and he assures me the outlet is pumping 240.
So... what now? Call the dryer company back and have their technician come look?
Still seems strange... 2 dryers, one new heating element, all fried in the first use.
would love some input if you have any thoughts...

A model number may help others help you. Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.comNote that I am off to the lake for a few days so will not be available. Yes it is weird. But there is a scenario that woul match what has happened. On the first dryer the heating element was bad. You replaced it but may also have a venting problem. So it heated up and blew the thermal cut-off for the heater. They replaced the unit but and it was good but again it blew the thermal cut-out due to the vent problem. This is a good example of why replacing parts/units without actually confirming what is wrong is a bad idea. It is also a good i9dea to check new parts before installing them to be sure that they are OK. It is not unheard of to get a bad replacement part. With a model number we may be able to get a wiring diagram and then with a meter you should be able to figure out the problem. |

I will take all of this into consideration and see what i can determine.
I had not thought of there being another problem adding to the original.
