I noticed the fridge has been running all the time lately and just happened to touch the center wall divider of my side by side and it is very warm. So I assume the compressor is running a lot because the defrost is stuck on. I found the defrost control inside fridge and disconnected it, but it also shut off the compressor. Can I assume the defrost control board is bad and needs replacing? Or is there something that controls this? Can I disconnect the defrost heater for now till,I get my part? Thanks for your time.

I noticed that when the fridge runs enough to reach the thermostat temp setting, the compressor shuts off and the defroster also shuts off. When the thermostat calls for cooling, then the defrost mode starts also. Thanks for any help on which comp board it might be.

Are the condenser coils under the unit clean? Are the vents on the front kick plate and the rear cover clean? Please take a look at the following link. I think this is what is happening. http://www.applianceaid.com/heat-around-refrigerator-door.php |

Denman, the compressor was running each time it got warm so I am going with your theory of the yoder loop. I believe you are 100% correct. I cleaned the coils which were dirty and am letting it do its thing. I only assumed there was an electric heating coil of some kind. That is why never assume, ask for help. You are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you and this site.
