I have a upright Frigidair freezer that is giving a high temp alarm, and not freezing properly. I have looked at all the common problems, and come up with what I think is the two most likely faulty parts, but wanted another opinion.
Here's what I have figured out so far: -The cooling fan works and start when the compressor does -The compressor cools the coils when it is on -There is no frost build-up on the coils -Have not checked the defroster, but it is not warm to the touch when compressor is off/not working and there is no frost build-up -The compressor runs and cools, BUT will start only when unplugged and plugged back in. It won't start back up after this first time. -The high temp alarm is on, so probably not the thermometer
This leads me to believe that it is either the compressor starter, or the control panel on the front. What do you guys think? I have access to a voltmeter to check if parts have continuity or not.

Here are your parts Parts for Frigidaire LFFU17F5HWE Freezer - AppliancePartsPros.comHere is the wiring diagram http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p...df/StCloud/297246001.pdfThe compressor runs and cools, BUT will start only when unplugged and plugged back in. It won't start back up after this first time. Does the fan come on but the compressor stays off? If yes then it is probably a compressor or compressor start problem as the fan is wired in parallel with the compressor. You could double check this by seeing if there is voltage (120 volts) across the compressor but it is not on. See below for a good link on how to check the compressor. Note that this is not a definitive test. The windings may check out OK and the compressor may still be toast re: it could have mechanical problems. How To Fix a Refrigerator - Appliance Repair Guide - ACME HOW TO.comIf no then odds are that it is a control board problem as it is not calling for cooling. |

I don't believe that the fan comes on unless the compressor is also on. Thanks for your input, that helps support my theory of the control board, but I'll check the voltage too.
