Back of freezer has ice build up and eventually the freezer and fridge stop keeping temperature as low as it should so we have to empty, turn off the fridge and defrost it. We have shut off ice maker and the problem still occurs. The bottom drawer in fridge has also been turned off.

Hi. Most likely the problem is the defrost system failure. With the freezer frosted like on the picture, unplug the refrigerator and remove the cover from the main control board at the back of the fridge. Part number: WR55X10942
Locate the plug J7 on the left and J9 (the middle one of the three wire plug just above the J7). Remove the 3 wire plug. Use the meter to check continuity between the J7 pin9 (the top one) and the wire in the plug, corresponding to the J9. If the reading is 22+ ohms, you should replace the control board, if there is no continuity, you will need to open the freezer rear panel and check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat for continuity. Part number: WR51X10101
Part number: WR50X10068
If any one of them doesn't have continuity, you should replace them. Remember to check the defrost thermostat while it's ice cold. Post the results. Simon.
