HELP! I have a Kenmore Elite Ultra Quiet dishwasher that is less than 3 years old. Two weeks ago, the dishwashwer went from Ultra Quiet to heinously loud. It was cleaning fine but I still was skeptical so I called Sears. They wanted $129 to come look at it (I can get an A/C repairman for half of that in the peak of summer in Dallas). I declined and went with an independant. He ran one cycle and told me it was the motor. He told me it would be $299 to replace that and only about $40.00 of that was his fee.

I am at an impass now. I spent $750 on this dishwasher less than three years ago so do I replace the motor or just buy a new dishwasher? If I repair it, is his price a fair price? How much would a motor cost me if I bought it direct? I have handy friends who could replace this for me. Please help!!

BTW...I use my dishwasher heavily and need to make a decision ASAP! Thanks !!:D

A Model Number may help others help you.

You are missing about 6 digits. The 665 only tells us that it was actually made by Whirlpool.

Your Model Number is still a couple digits short.
I cannot tell if the motor's price is fair or not unless I can find it on the net.

If this is a non US model I will not be able to find info on it.

I would open up the pump/seals area from inside the tub and see if perhaps there is something caught in the impeller.
